Schedule & Classes:
Beginner Art — ages 4-6 Mixed Media I — ages 5-8 Students are taught step-by-step techniques using pencil, pastel, acrylics, clay, as well as other mixed media, focusing on light/shadow, color, composition, form, and perspective. This is a broad class designed to introduce young students to a wide range of art forms and styles through Art History, encouraging self-confidence and allowing them to find their strengths and interests.		Mixed Media II — ages 8-11 and 9+ Mixed Media III — ages 12+ Adult/Teen Mixed Media — ages 16-adult This class will allow students to explore a wide range of media and techniques which will include drawing, pastels, oils, watercolor, clay and paper mache/ sculpture, as well as various printmaking techniques. Individual attention will allow students to follow their interests at their own pace, to further their skill and broaden their horizons.
Oil Painting — ages 8+ This class will teach oil painting techniques used by old masters throughout art history such as Rembrandt, Monet, and Vermeer. With this rarely taught medium, young artists will learn to build form using light, shadow, and halftone, to achieve realism. Each student, depending on ability, will work from traditional still life, and photo-reference. The ability to create the illusion of reality provides a means for further self expression in any style.		Drawing — ages 9+ This class will introduce basic fundamentals of drawing such as line, shape, value, perspective and composition through traditional exercises and techniques such as sketching, contour and gesture drawing. Working primarily in graphite and charcoal, students will be introduced to a general knowledge of the medium, and they will build a good understanding of how to apply these elements learned in class so they can create their own expressive drawings. Students will work from observation or photos (representational or abstract) for final drawings.
Drawing/Painting — ages 8+ Teen/Adult I Drawing/Painting — ages 12+ Students will work in their area of interest. Beginners thru advanced students will focus on fine art techniques, and strengthen their understanding of light/shadow, composition, and color theory though observation. Working at their own pace and skill level, this class will allow students to be productive in a fun, relaxing environment where they can express themselves and their ideas.		Teen/Adult II — ages 14+ This class is designed for Intermediate / Advanced students who have taken our classes for at least one year or through portfolio review. Students will learn to use their refined skills to move to the next level of art making. The process of combining various references to create original images that express their own personal ideas and visions will be explored. Group critiques and visiting artists will expose more serious students to getting feedback from others and gaining the confidence needed to succeed as a professional artist. Adult Oil Painting Our adult classes are perfect for any level! Classes will be tailored to individual needs, while encouraging experimentation. Each class will provide demonstrations on a variety of techniques with the goal of having each student broaden their skills and personal style.		Drawing & Cartooning — ages 8+ In this class students are taken step by step through the cartooning/illustration process. Employing media such as pen & ink and markers, students are first taught realistic drawing techniques, learning basic skills such as cross-hatching and stippling. After these basics are established, they are introduced to character design and then illustration.
OPEN STUDIO — ages 14+ Non-instructional studio time for portfolio/personal development. Come and create and use our supplies!! Students must sign in with present instructor. $20 drop-in.
